AZ Energy Efficient Home

Had a great experience with this company getting new insulation and sealing our house. The crew was really nice, worked hard and cleaned up after themselves very thoroughly. We really feel the difference in our house and our electric bill has gone down.

Last summer my 20+ year old air conditioner started leaking freon. Through APS I was referred to AZ Energy Efficient Home and had a home energy audit done. They recommended updating my duct work and replacing the AC unit as well as a few other updates to my home. Due to the cost and time needed to have the unit arrive they were very kind and twice came out and filled the freon in my struggling old unit until I had the money together to have the work done and the new unit arrived. I had a small problem with the unit not kicking the heat on now that it’s winter and they came out same day and were able to diagnose and repair the problem. Overall my home has been significantly more comfortable especially the bedrooms since the rework of the ducting. My kids told me this was the single best investment I made in the home for their comfort. Doors don’t slam shut and smells from outside don’t get sucked into the dog doors anymore either. Overall great experience and good service and friendly follow up when we had an issue. I tell everyone a home energy audit is the best investment you can make in the comfort and enjoyment of your home and my energy bills dropped quite a bit as well. I will be having them out to add new insulation this spring.

DO NOT USE THEM! This company should be ashamed and embarrassed about the lack of customer service and appalling professionalism.<br><br>Your company installed the water heater in our home 4/5 years ago. The owner, Jonathan, didn’t feel like nor had the time/ proper tools with him in his truck to fix our water heater leak and pawned it off to have a handyman fix and then proceeded to tell us it’s just a TPT Valve issue when in reality the entire unit needed to be replaced. Our handyman spent hours trying to fix the leak taking multiple trips to Ace Hardware, but wasn’t successful. So, we then had to have a plumber come out (another additional cost on top of paying our handyman) to replace our water heater completely because that was the issue the entire time. We are in this situation now because of your company and I’m livid. You should really cover all these additional charges we had to fork over to our handyman and plumber as this water heater you installed is busted and this was your responsibility to fix in the first place. Very poor company. We spent 10K making our home “energy efficient” and you don’t have the decency to spend a little extra time to investigate that replacement was the solution. THATS YOUR JOB! What a scam!<br><br>12/9 update & my response to your response:<br><br>First of all the fact that you are being so defensive and aren’t taking any accountability or responsibility proves my point on what a poor company this is. Your office manager Cheryl emailed my husband at 8:30am on Thursday morning saying you would have time to take a look at what’s going on. So knowing the situation and having 8 hours to get the proper tools needed is a poor excuse. You didn’t come to our house until 4:30/4:45 and if you didn’t have the time or proper tools with you then she shouldn’t have told us you had the time. Also, what is my dad gunna say to you? You’re the “professional”. You were one foot out the door the moment you got to our house. You were there for 30 seconds pawing off your job to a handyman who spent hours trying to help us and making multiple trips to Ace Hardware. But after hours on hours trying to fix the leak, he finally said we should call a plumper, so we did. And they immediately knew it was a busted water heater that needed to be completely replaced. It’s taken care of now but this was extremely poor communication and poor customer service. You just came to our house to irritate us. And congratulations, you totally succeeded. I also really don’t care about any of your other reviews. I’m worried about my issues and the service I didn’t receive.

Honest and helpful.

Bought a house and the seller "forgot" to include any information about the Broan ERV. After bugging the seller's realtor, I received Jonathan's contact information. After a scheduling hiccup, he was able to make a visit and walk us through maintenance on the ERV and operation of the wall control unit. He was polite and answered all our questions, and we didn't feel rushed or pushed into buying products or services. Would work with him again.

I was in need to make changes to help out my energy bill. Johnathan came over and was able to go over the issues that he encountered. Granted it was more than I anticipated. He did suggest a finance company they work with as another option. Again wasn't looking for such a big job. After reaching out and they offered zero interest for 5 yrs. It made the bill manageable.<br>Started off on a delay to the job due to an issue with one of the drivers, but was able to reschedule. Martin and another gentleman were able to complete the job in 2 days which included removal and re install insulation, duct vent seals and other duct work within the attic. They were great and I liked how they cleaned up after their mess.<br>My windows sunscreens where installed shortly after the insulation to complete the job. I dont regret the job that was done. I definitely feel an improvement from all that work. I did run into some issues with flood lights and outdoor cameras post install. Wiring and connections needed to be investigated within the attic because thats where hub of the power source was located. They returned and were able to fix the issues. And things are now resolved. I do recommend them even though we had a hiccup Johnathan worked with me in finding a solution.<br>If your concerned about getting improvements done due to cost I highly recommend looking into the finance group they work with definitely made it easier for me to move forward with the job.

My electric bill is high. I had 3 different AC companies check my AC with all giving the same result "AC working fine" with no mechanical problems or leaks in the ducts.<br><br>I used this company to do an energy audit. Their customer service is good. The person who came to do my audit was nice but didn't have any tools. His walk through the home for 60 minutes was worth 124$. He recommended a duct leak test for 700$??!!.<br><br>My problem turned out to be a defective APS meter, and canceled this duct leak test which I was not convinced about doing.<br><br>If their prices is lower and they do actually run some tests I would have given a better review

I had used AZ Energy Efficient Home on a previous home I owned, was happy with the work they did there, and engaged with them on my new home. I have a single-car garage I converted into a woodworking shop and was convinced, with this summer's heat, to get the garage insulated and to add a mini-split cooling/heating unit.<br><br>I received a couple of quotes for the job and found the combination service from AZ Energy Efficient Home to be the best value - they were the only company I interviewed that could do both projects: insulate the attic and do the HVAC work.<br><br>I had a 100-amp sub-panel installed in the workshop and that served as the power source for the mini-split.<br><br>Access to the garage attic was through a previous portal cut to install the sub-panel. They blew fiberglass insulation into the attic. They they cut a 4" hole in between each of the wall studs in order to blow fiberglass insulation into the cavities.<br><br>They re-sealed each of the holes and the attic access portal when finished and my wife and I re-painted the affected areas.<br><br>The mini-split was installed in a single day and the line-set was installed inside the wall in the workshop and enclosed in a cover outside. The cover makes the line-set very unobtrusive.<br><br>It was a very clean, efficient and professional job. There was good communication and the job was explained to me very thoroughly before they started.<br><br>I'm very happy with the work they did and I can tell a significant difference in the comfort level in the workshop. Because it's a heat-pump it will both cool and heat the work space.<br><br>I would do business with AZ Energy Efficient Home again.

We used a full array of services provided by AZ Energy Efficient Home. They completely overhauled our insulation, removing the old insulation and sprayed in new and sealed all vents and duct work. They also wrapped our water heater and installed a smart thermostat drastically reducing how much energy we use on hot water. Our house is now Pearl Certified Gold!<br>Additionally they installed installed a Broan whole house air filtration unit. This constantly recirculates clean air throughout our house. My wife has severe allergies and asthma and has noticed a tremendous difference since it was installed. We had the unit down for about a week due to a filter breaking and needing to order a new one (my fault when i was cleaning it as part of regular maintenance). During that time my wife struggled again with her breathing, but once back up things got better. A true testament that this unit really works. Highly recommend if you have anyone in your home with breathing problems.<br>Overall this work was not cheap, but often you get what you pay for and this was the case. This is an investment in energy efficiency and in our case better quality air in the home, and for us it was worth it.

After completing the APS energy assessment through their Home Performance Program, I received recommendations for various companies to conduct an energy audit. I went with AZ Energy Efficient Home because they have a great reputation and are an Energy Star qualified contractor. The audit process was easy and straightforward and I appreciated that the report recommendations focused on safety and things I was concerned about. There wasn’t an upsell pitch for services I didn’t want or need. The upgrades chosen were affordable and the insulation and ductwork replacement, and air sealing in the attic of my 1980 home was scheduled and completed efficiently. I was satisfied with the work completed but especially impressed with the results from the installation of an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV). There is a substantial improvement in the air quality of my home which was immediately evident by the reduction in dust and improvement of my son’s allergy symptoms. Anyone looking to improve their home energy efficiency and save money would be hard-pressed to find a better contractor than AZ Energy Efficient Home.

Jonathan, your crew just left our home. I can not express how much we are impressed with their work ethic. Martin kept us appraised during each phase of their work, and how it corrected the "numbers." He did not want to leave until he was sure all the previous inadequacies were corrected. As I mentioned before, my conversation with Margie initially sold me on your firm. Everyone we have encountered, you included, has reconfirmed my decision.

We had a new AC installed a few months ago by AZ Energy Efficient Homes. Recently we had some issues in our bathroom. They came out and took care of the problem. We are very happy.

The decrease in dust in our house was tangible immediately and now several weeks after AZ Energy Efficient Home sealed our attic and ductwork. As an added benefit, we are looking forward to lower energy bills from this work and the new insulation. Everyone was so wonderful from the men who came to our house to the woman in the office. Highly recommend this company!

Our home is noticibly more comfortable after the energy efficient steps were complete. The staff were hard working, efficient and always polite explaining their work.

Terrible experience dealing with this company. Spent over 3k on upgrades after the rebate for less than a couple days of work. Terribly overpriced for what was done by a couple people. Was told my attic was not insulated enough at all and the work would make a big difference in my comfort level. Was also told sealing my ducts would make a big difference as well. Well I spent over $1500 to have them blow more insulation in my attic when that really was not the problem. When I contacted the owner John and told him I wasn't giving the rebate check to SRP until they figure out why my house is still hot he proceeded to come over and cuss me out and tell me that I was an idiot. VERY PROFESSIONAL customer service. Found out the real culprit of my problem is that older duct systems for AC are not very efficient at cooling spaces so sealing ducts is generally a waste of money vs putting in a newer up to date duct system. I also had SRP came out and did a thermal camera test and found my attic was cooler... but they did not do a thermal camera test before the work so I could actually see a before and after. SRP's thermal camera showed that my walls are where most of my heat comes in my house and the money I spent on the attic and duct sealing would of been better spent on insulating the walls better. Highly do not recommend this company. Before spending your hard earned money on this stuff your better off upgrading your AC System and instead of sealing your ducts if you have an older home your better off replacing the duct system entirely as the duct system I have is more built for a swap cooler and not the newer high efficiency air conditioners of today. And do not take his advice when they try to tell you your attic is terribly insulated as I do not think mine was in very bad shape at all. Happy to talk to any prospective customers about this horrible experience as well.. Message me before agreeing to spend 5k on something that no homeowner really gives a crap about when you go to sell your house.

Jonathan and his team are AMAZING! I moved into an older house in May 2015. My AC bills were outrageous to say the least so I contacted APS to have an Energy Efficiency Audit done. Jonathon arrived promptly and thoroughly explained the work he was going to do and the anticipated timeframe. Judging by the look on his face as he went from room to room I could tell it wasn't going to turn out well so I prepared for the worst. It was one of the least efficient homes he'd seen. He outlined the work that needed to be done and explained it in detail (with pictures) to me and my husband. Needless to say, we had the work done. His crew was fantastic! I was reluctant to write a review right away because it was still winter and I knew the true test would be during the summer months. I am pleased to report back that my APS bills are just under HALF of what they were 1 year ago! The money I am saving in APS is paying for the cost of the repairs. I am very thankful that APS has such an honest and all around great guy working for their customers. I recommend Jonathon to everybody!

The staff arrived on time both days and worked hard all day. The work they did was very detailed and they did a very excellent job at cleaning up behind the work they did. I do a lot of research on every vendor and listen to Rosie on the House every change I get to make sure the contractors I pick do the job correctly and I highly recommend AZ Energy Efficient Home.

As a new home owner in Phoenix, we wanted to determine and correct any problems with the energy efficiency. Of course, for comfort, in addition, to insure the lowest possible cost for that comfort. Thru APS, i was referred to AZ Energy Efficient Home to obtain an energy audit. From the beginning contact, i was impressed with the professionalism shown toward our concerns. Jonathan conducted a complete look at our home, attic, air conditioner, vents etc. He took pictures in the attic, showing us the open vents, crimped duct work, insulation beaten down etc. He tested the air flow inside the home, said it was very good, but would be greatly improved with the newer style air flow vents. When we received the estimate for the work, having seen the pictures, we knew we would be well cared for when the work was done. The crew worked quietly, were prompt and courteous, the inside foreman kept me informed, changed the air flow vents, explained how the system works, and verified that the home was brought up to the highest standard possible.<br>I had researched the firm, read the reviews, and knew they were backed by APS. We have not started our air conditioner yet (amazing cool spring here), but i am sure we will not be overwhelmed by high energy bills. Our first inclination was to replace the air conditioner, a 10 year old unit, but jonathan assured us it was not necessary, that the work done would allow the unit to do a very good job, at a much lower cost. This honest approach to our situation was so much appreciated.<br>We completely recommend this firm, for honest, thorough work, with the highest integrity. AZEnergy did a complete energy audit and made specific recommendations. Jonathan explained those recommendations very thoroughly. They also helped us through the loan process with the bank because the bank wasn’t sure about the process. The guys were here for two days and did a great job. They worked around me (I use my home as my office) and our 3 dogs. They cleaned out the old insulation, installed 2 new returns, sealed everything, and blew in new insulation. The guys were great, worked hard and cleaned as they went along - then did a thorough cleaning at the end of each day. Real professionals dedicated to customer service. The temperatures are so nice outside (high in the 80’s) that we aren’t stressing the system, but I can already see how much quieter our system is, and I am noticing that the temps inside aren’t warming up as much at the end of the day as they did before the work. We are really pleased with the work, and we hope we see nice changes to our cooling bills this summer.

With a small crew and just two quick days of work, our home is more comfortable throughout. We haven't seen an electric bill yet so we're not sure of the monetary savings. However, our comfort level is much higher as is the degree of satisfaction that comes from using AZ Energy Efficient Home to do the work. We believe the steps taken to improve air flow routing will improve the efficiency of our A/C unit and increase its lifespan (which means saving money in the long term). We should have taken advantage of the power company's audit and rebate program sooner. Bring on the summer heat...we're ready.

The work crew was very prompt and very professional, they explained things as they went along and did a very clean and careful job. Since the completion, we have turned off our heating and AC, the home inside maintains a temp between 71 and 76 night and day, very cool and comfortable so we plan on leaving if off until the end of April, we will see our bill reduced for sure. It seems to be best to keep the doors closed and just let the air circulate as it should with the new unit. The new insulation must have really helped and with the unit bringing in fresh air all day and night, everything thing seems to be working as planed. We had the old insulation taken out, a must, the new is much cleaner. The sun screens sure have helped too as we don't feel any warm air inside, very cool all day long. Thanks to the crew and all.

The people showed up on time, worked with my work schedule, the team was courteous.in fact I was Ill when the work was to be done. They cleaned up after the day was done. Most of all my wife said they worked hard and did a good job. I noticed a noise difference the first night before the work order was complete I could not hear my heat pump run which was nice. When the job was done the firs night the house was more comfortable held the temp way better can't tell if AC is running because I can't hear it.<br>The AC does not seam to run as long as far as I can tell.<br>I am also use them in the future for other projects around the house.<br>P.S. wish I had done this years ago NICE JOB.

I found their company on the website of our HVAC company and decided to have them come out to do an Energy Audit. After a very thorough analysis of out home, Johnathon found the insulation shortcomings in our attic and the need for duct sealing. Our experience with AZ Energy has been excellent. We first met Jonathon at a home show in Phoenix. We had them come out and look at our house in order to improve the temperatures in our rooms. It seemed our bedroom was always hot (difficult to sleep) and our electric bills were very high. After Jonathon accessed our house he found that up in our attic there were open vents, insulation had fell out of the walls, no insulation in parts of the walls at all and tons of problems. He found most of our air was living in our attic and not coming in our home. No wonder our house had issues. We hired them to do the work.<br>Our rooms are now the same temperature and our house is now holding the air and Heat and our "attic" is no longer getting cooled :) I can't thank them enough for the difference their work has made in our home. I would highly recommend them to do the work job very honest and up front company. Love them... Thank you!!!

They gave us an honest evaluation of what needed to be done in our home to achieve our goal.<br><br>The crew that worked on our home was great. Polite, showed up on time, worked hard and finished on time. They left my home as they had found it...clean and tidy. They were careful and understanding about our pets too. It has been a pleasure to have them work in our home. They submitted our rebate forms and made the entire process easy. We had had insulation added and duct sealing done by other contractors previously, but still had ongoing concerns with HVAC function and excessive dust. Jonathan took the time to review our history and concerns, and did a thorough and scientific review. Testing not only uncovered significant past insulation and air flow oversights, but also helped lead to the discovery (after 7 years!) of the source of our unhealthy, excessive dust. I would encourage anyone to get an energy audit with AZEEH. Jonathan and his team will also work with your power company to assure that available rebates are utilized. There was no "hard sell" in our case. The corrective work is done, the cost was competitive, and the results excellent.

I am VERY unhappy with this company. After speaking enthusiastically with us at the Home Show, they set up an appointment with us. We told them where we lived and gave an approximation of our monthly electricity bills. I told them that I had concerns with "hot" rooms and also wanted to see the results of the infrared scan to find out leaky places. Our AC equipment is getting older, and we were interested in getting recommendations. My husband fixed up his work schedule specifically in order to make today's appointment, but then was told by the company representative that they would not come to our home because our electric bills were too low and it wouldn't be worth his time. He literally said that! Thanks a lot! I consider this unprofessional conduct at its best, and would NEVER recommend this company to anyone, ever.

Out of the three Scottsdale energy audit companies my wife and I spoke with, AZ Energy Efficient Home was the most courteous, professional, and honest. We chose to engage in energy improvement work with AZ Energy, and after seeing the results first hand, we would recommend them to anyone. Thank you for your excellent service.
