Wonderful experience from start to finish! Everyone was professional, highly knowledgeable, and super friendly. I participated in the Austin Energy program which is also wonderful. It’s been over a year now so I’ve had a full baking summer and one winter ice event. My 1982 house that had little insulation left in it before 1st Choice fixed everything, stayed SO toasty warm I had to keep checking the thermostat to make sure it wasn’t broken! I stay cooler longer in the summer which helps my electric bill. I highly recommend their services. Oh and the install workers were also great- they kept the areas clean, they picked up after themselves, and the work was done correctly and has held up. Thank you!

They came in and replaced all of my ductwork and vents with Austin Energy Weatherization Program for me. They were professional, quick and cleaned up. Great experience and I appreciated their work.

They came out and did a great job. My wife still comments on how tough it is to open the door. But it’s because the weather stripping is so good. They also did a great job in the attic because we needed new insulation and a return air. The improvement upstairs was noticeable right away and that is where it was always hot in the summer. While doing the work they were professional and kept the house clean. We appreciate everything that you did.

First Choice Energy provided new AC ducts and smart thermostat plus new insulation and general sealing of doors and under cabinets through the City of Austin weatherization program. They did an excellent job. Their technicians were courteous and careful at my home. Work was completed in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend them!

We had a great experience using 1st Choice Energy to design and install a new HVAC duct and vent system and install extra insulation in our attic. Bill Cook came out and assessed the situation and the company gave us a quote with transparent pricing broken down by each component of the install. I really appreciate that 1st Choice Energy manages the full rebate process with City of Austin from coordinating the pre and post install inspections to submitting the rebate requests. The work crew arrived on time each day and completed the job faster than expected. They were very respectful of our needing to use our house even during the work and of our pets. Would highly recommend 1st Choice Energy for any HVAC system work!

I had a fantastic experience with 1st Choice Energy for my recent HVAC work. The owner, Matt, was the lead technician on the job and was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He completely renovated my ductwork, rebuilt the plenums, and added insulation to bring my attic up to code. After a frustrating history with substandard HVAC , I had lots of questions about the ductwork renovations. He and his crew were patient and eager to do the job right. Matt, especially, took the time to explain everything in detail. The results are incredible—it feels like I have brand new A/C, with a strong, steady stream of air from every vent. I would highly recommend 1st Choice Energy to anyone.

When my AC went out, during a freakish heat wave of course, I dealt with several HVAC companies of varying levels of competence, honesty, and profit-max orientation before I finally called 1st Choice Energy--and I wish they had been my First Choice. Not only did they replace my old HVAC with a more efficient unit, they worked in partnership with Austin Energy to upgrade and weatherize my entire house, getting rid of funky old ductwork, sealing everything up, and moving the furnace to a better location. Over the years, I’d gotten used to having a few cold rooms and too many warm ones, but I now have consistent, comfortable cool. This took quite a bit of work on their part, but Matt and everyone on the crew made it easy to have them around. They were hard-working, respectful, friendly, even fun. And they did it all at a price that even this starving artist can afford. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Skip those companies that spend their money on endless TV commercials, and call 1st Choice first.

AMAZING service! 1st Choice came out when my house wasn't cooling down. Another company told me that i just needed insulation in the attic. They put the insulation in but it did not help. I called 1st Choice because they were recommended by Austin Energy. They came out and immediately determined that my unit needed to be replaced. I went through Austin Energy to get a low interest loan and rebates that saved me around 1700.00. My air conditioner is working beautifully. The representative I worked with kept me informed daily about the status of the installation. He even went to Home Depot and bought portable air conditioner to use before and while the installation was completed. I cannot say enough the quality of the work done. I will use them again in a heartbeat.

I went through the Home Energy Savings Program through Austin Energy, and 1st Choice Energy made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Matt helped walk me through the city rebate process step by step, and I was able to get rebates for my new AC install, which saved me a ton of money! They also handled my HVAC replacement, added new insulation, and did new duct work all financed through Velocity credit union, which made the upgrades super affordable. The weatherization they did has already made a noticeable difference in my comfort and energy bills. The customer service was top notch from start to finish. The technicians were professional, timely, and took the time to explain everything they were doing in clear terms. I have nothing but positive things to say about Matt and 1st Choice Energy. Matt took over his father’s company he is an MBA and has a degree in mechanical engineering. First Choice was really helpful from the beginning through the whole process of weatherizing my house. They were thorough in going over the whole house and figuring out where energy could be saved. Then, they explained everything in a logical and understandable way. Katy, the operations manager, kept me informed and did a great job of scheduling and coordinating everything So the work was not at all disruptive. I figured the project would have good results, but I was surprised that the results were as noticeable as they were.

Great Work! 1st Choice installed a new AC at my home, they added insulation in my attic and replaced the attic air ducts that were leaking air. The crew was professional and cleaned up during and after the job. I found them to be very honest and professional and they kept me informed along the way.

Do NOT hire 1st Choice Energy. They improperly designed and installed an HVAC system at my house that caused thousands of dollars in water damage including mold. The owner has denied all responsibility and his insurance doesn’t even cover mold claims. Now I am having to sue him since he doesn’t have proper insurance and he won’t pay for the damages. Do not hire an HVAC contractor unless they have mold coverage in their insurance.

The company owner is very helpful and takes his time explaining amy questions you may have.

I hired 1st Choice Energy to do a home efficiency upgrade and to install a new variable speed Trane heat pump. This was a big investment in my home, and I am very satisfied with the work and the service. I am somewhat knowledgeable about building science and home efficiency. I chose 1st Choice because David and his team understand this stuff and how to apply it in central Texas. David spent a lot of time with me explaining the reasoning behind his recommendations. During the efficiency work (ducting, blow-in insulation, sealing the home, window screens) and heat pump install, David was frequently on site to check in on how things were going. He was always a phone call away. There were a few problems that sprang up after the work. A bad solenoid in the heat pump; a software glitch in the thermostat. David was all over it, making sure that they got resolved asap. I highly recommend you consider 1st Choice Energy for any HVAC and home efficiency work because they are excellent at communication, including after the sale, and they do good work.

Great company and a great team! a young man came to my door and told me i could get a free energy audit through Austin Energy's program and being very suspicious of door to door people i asked alot of questions and he answered them intelligently and thoroughly so i scheduled a time. Caleb there energy consultant came to my home and did a inspection of my home (going into my attic and checking my air ducts) them explained where i was loosing energy. He broke down the numbers on the amount of money i was loosing and had a list of solutions that i could study. Very impressed no pressure, felt like a education session about my home
